Turner Broadcasting launches UGC online application

Turner Broadcasting has launched a free user generated content application on www.cartoonnetwork.co.uk based on its number one boys' franchise Ben 10.

Ben 10: Alien Maker enables kids across the UK to make their own aliens, and give them a range of alien super powers. Once completed, kids can submit their creation to a gallery and battle other user's aliens in a trump-card style contest.

The application is the broadcaster's second UGC online product to launch in the UK in recent months, as part of its continued commitment to UGC gaming, which it predicts will play a major role in the future of the genre.

In October Turner Broadcasting launched Ben 10: Alien Force Game Creator, which enables kids to create their own platform style games.  It has debuted to huge success across Europe, and in the UK it has generated over 14 million game plays and seen 33,000 games created.

Caroline Casey, Director of Digital Development at Turner Broadcasting, EMEA said: "Ben 10: Alien Maker is such a fun concept and a great way of letting kids play with their favourite Ben 10 characters online.  We know user generated content is really important to our audience, so putting tools like Ben 10: Alien Maker and Ben 10: Game Creator into kids' hands, enables them to get creative with UGC content within a safe and interactive environment."

Ben 10: Alien Maker will feature on Cartoon Network's fully moderated kids' games area on its website, where users can upload their aliens to the online gallery.  It will be rolled out across Europe.
